Video art submitted by Lauren Spencer from Chicago Academy for the Arts.

Every two weeks our school gives us a topic to work on for school. This week’s project was on current events, although violence is a topic often highlighted.  We felt it was time to shed light on another form of violence that is affecting teens.  We decided to do our project on date rape/rape to show that there are many ways someone can be raped and that it is never the victims fault.  Rape can happen to anyone. It isn’t just about their physical body being taken by force but, also how trauma can emotionally and mentally impact that person — not only their personal views but also how people look at them and what people say to these victims afterward.

In the spirit of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, we share this powerful video.

Trigger Warning.
